Hello Stranger!

Hi blogland.
I know I've been pretty MIA lately. Sorry.

My mind is pretty all over the place right now, so you are geting a good-ol' list post.
Enjoy the randomness that is my mind!

1) I'm completely in love with my new niece. I've visted her daily since she was born. Well, excpet yesterday. Having an almost 3 year old, I totally have forgotten how sweet and sleepy newborns are. I could just hold and stare at her for hours. The hospital didn't let kids other than healthy siblings in to the baby wing, Reagan couldn't see Charlotte for a few days.  On Thursday night we took him over and he was in love.  He is already so proud of her and is saying "my baby is out!"

2) I turned 30 years old on Friday. Old. Fart.
It was a pretty anti-climatic birthday.  Because Charlotte's due date was on my birthday we didn't really plan anything- not knowing when she would make her appearance.  She came a few days early but I still wasn't really feeling the big day.  My girls at work got me lunch and some sweet gifts (I will upload pics later). And some of my students remembered and got me some little goodies. That night I stopped by to see Charlotte and then Nick, Rea and I went to dinner. Aside from the 93 facebook comments I wouldn't have known it was my birthday. (Yes. I counted. Don't prented you don't!) Next milestone- 40. Holy oldness.

3) Pure exhaustion.
I swear. I can't seem to feel 100 percent. I am constantly exhausted. Like could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. I thought it might have been the long night/day for Charlotte's delivery. I stayed with Meg the whole time and didn't sleep. But you'd think I'd have caught up by now, right? Who  knows.

4) Last night Nick and I went to see Mission Impossible. Nick's Mom and Stepdad watched Reagan so we could have a little date. It was so nice. The movie was totally entertaining. But Lord. I learned I need to get some more patience. I was so irritated by people in this theater. Sorry to rant. Maybe it's because we NEVER go to movies anymore. But when I go- I want to watch the movie. I don't want to hear the person next to me chewing. I swear this woman was going to town on her nachos. Like a beaver. I'm not kidding. Itty bitty bites that were so loud. And then came the ice. She chomped the ice the entire movie. Oh- and the lady in front of me was seriously making phone calls during the movie. She checked voice mail multiple times and texted throughout. She's lucky she didn't get a foot to the head.

5. My kids at school are STILL doing benchmark testing. Tuesday we will be done with NWEA Math and then in a few weeks is the District Writing Test. Bless their hearts.  I had kids so upset because they didn't get "exceeds". What are we doing to these 6 year olds?!  I've seen so many cute MLK projects and lessons. Yep. That barely happened in our class this week. We talked about him for 10 minutes. I did the egg thing (showed a brown egg and white egg/showed inside/get the gist?) and that was it. Poor kids. Testing has taken over the world.

6. I'm waiting for Reagan to wake up from his nap so we can go to my parents house.  We are going to watch the 2nd half of the Packer/Giants game (GO PACK GO) and then do a little family birthday dinner. My mom is making my favorite enchiladas. Yum. I'm hungry just thinking about them.

What I'm Loving Weds.!

Hi guys!
There are lots of things to love today but one, HUGE thing in particular!

My little sister Meg had her baby girl, Charlotte yesterday!

Charlotte was due on this Friday, the 13th (my birthday) but came early!
Monday night Meg got admitted to the hospital and my parents and I joined them at 10:00 pm. We stayed al night just taking care of Meggo and laughing ourselves silly. We were so darn slap happy.

Megan started pushing at 5:00 and Charlotte joined us at 6:33 am! She weighed 9 lbs and was 21 inches long. Such a big girl! My sister was AMAZING. So zen throughout the delivery and she worked hard. The end of the labor was not easy but she was awesome.

I'm in love.
Welcome to the world sweet Charlotte!

Our weekend and an update!

Man. Who knew a short week could seem so long?
After 2 weeks on winter break, it was hard to get back into the groove.
It was a good week back with my firsties but I happily welcomed the weekend.

Saturday
The day was spent being pretty lazy.
Yep. I love being lazy.
That night Reagan was invited to one of his classmate's 3rd birthday party.
It was our first time going to a birthday party where we didn't know anyone. Usually Reagan's friends are my friend's kids. So this was new! It was at a gym and the kids had fun bouncing, riding scooters, and playing games.  Reagan had a blast.

Sunday
Today we got up and took Reagan and Nick's baby-brother Cooper to the zoo.
It was seriously the perfect day. Not very crowded and beautiful weather.
The boys had lots of fun together and laughed the whole time.

After the zoo we went to visit my MIL in the hospital.
For those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile, you know what a long journey this has been.  If you are new- a little recap. My MIL got very sick about 8 weeks ago. Her body basically started to shut down.  She spent 8 weeks in the ICU and a few weeks ago got put on the liver transplant list. Because she was so sick, she got bumped up to the top and only had to wait 6 days to get her transplant (unheard of). Last night she was released from the ICU floor and moved to the rehab floor.  Nick has been visiting her every week but I had only seen her at the very beginning. When we dropped off Cooper to Nick's dad at the hospital we were able to go in and say hello.  She was awake and alert. I could see "Lisa" in her eyes- so wonderful. She still looks extremely tiny and weak. She still has a feeding tube in but is starting to drink water and eat pudding and such. I know she misses her baby boy so much and hopefully he will be able to see her again soon. (Cooper has seen her only a couple of times.) Thank you for all of you who have continued to keep her in your prayers. She is getting better every day.

What we've been doing....

Eeek.
I can't believe I go back to school tomorrow.
Winter break has totally flown by.

I will be happy to see my little firsties and give hugs, but it is sure going to be hard to leave my little boy.  I got so spoiled this break. Especially this last week.  The first week of break he was testing, testing, testing me. And I often said "I could never be a stay at home mom with him 24/7". I mean- hitting me, lots of "no!", and full on tantrums in public. You get the picture.  But this week he was the biggest sweetie. Motherhood is definitely not always rainbows and flowers, but when it's good....it's really good! :)

Some fun things from this week:

(1)
Reagan and I went to the AZ Museum for Youth with my older sister and her kiddos.
These cousins had an absolute blast!

(2)
My parents took my younger sister and I out to a great dinner and then the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson show. Too be completely honestly, I was expected a circus- a fancy one. My family can't get enough teasing me about that .... but really- I had no idea. But it turns out it was not filled with animals or freaks but really an amazing show. I love Michael Jackson music and his dancing so this was right up my alley. If it comes to your city- GO!
(Us at dinner first)

Here is a little clip I found online.

(3)
For NYE I made some of my favorite appetizers, busted out the board games, and had my family over for a little night of fun.  It was VERY laid back... So much so we all wore jammies. We played

(4)
On New Years Day we went to the last Arizona Cardinals game of the season.
(I love this picture of my hubbs, my son, and my daddy!)

 (Reagan with the Cardinals mascot.)

PS- for all you Bachelor fans out there!
Keep an eye out for one of my sorority sisters tonight!
She is my great-grand-dot... so I never was in school with her! But still fun!
