Thanksgiving at School....

A little late to be blogging about this.
But we are finally finishing up our little study on the first Thanksgiving.

Here is what we have been up to:
 We sequenced the events.
 We made a "thankful turkey".
We wrote facts about the Mayflower and drew pictures of what we would have brought.
We made Pilgrim and Indian hats.

And played games the Pilgrim children played.
Like hopscotch
 leap frog,
 and squat tag.
We also wrote about Pilgrim girls and boys
and made our very own little colonial kids.
Today some of our BIG benchmark tests began!
We took our "Easy CBM" math test and they started to DIBEL our first graders.
'Tis the season for testing right?

Christmas Spirit

I love Thanksgiving....but boy do I love me some Christmas!

The Christmas spirit definately hit our house this weekend.

(1)We decorated the house.
And Nick even had his own "Griswald" moment.
Yep. That would be his arm sticking through the hole he made when he stepped through the ceiling while trying to get out Christmas decor from the attic. Lordy.

(2)We attempted Black Friday.
Yep. 9:00pm at Toys R Us.
Yep. 9:15pm turned around and went back home.
Too much craziness for me.

(3) We had dinner with my family and went to the Phoenix Zoo Lights.
It's a wonderful family tradition we have.

(4) Our Elf on the Shelf, Buddy, made his first appearance and has been hiding ever since. Reagan is loving it! We read the book and he has been carrying him around and talking to him nonstop. (I know, I know- you're not supposed to touch them. But I can't say no. He is obsessed.) We also tivoed the movie on tv this weekend and seriously watch it every night!

Thanksgiving 2011

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year.
We went to my Mom and Dad's house around 10:30 and stayed until about 8. My Aunt, Uncle, Cousin, and her sweet baby boy drove up from Tucson. My younger sister Meg and her hubby Shaun also came, but my older sister and her family didn't join us this year. (We'll see them tomorrow.)

Anyways- here are some pictures from the day.
It was a a beautiful day, so we ate outside.

 My little turkey.

My cousin and her little man.

I am thankful

On Thanksgiving Eve, there is so much to be Thankful for.

I am thankful for my sweet little man.

I am thankful for my amazing husband.

I am thankful for my job and my adorable class.

I am thankful for my wonderful family.

and lastly I am thankful for this sweet blogger community.
Today I had an email from sweet Taylor

asking about my mother in law Lisa and if she could add her to her prayer list. Amazing, right? I'm so thankful for blogging and all of the kind and sweet friends I have "met" through it.

Happy Thanksgiving! :)
