Hi Fellow Teachers!

Hi fellow teachers!
I know that many teachers read my blog and I was hoping for some ideas!
What kinds of things do you have the kids make for their parents for Christmas? I would some ideas! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I always do a handprint calendar for the parent gift. It’s a lot of work, but I get someone to come help me do it (friend, spouse, retired teacher). This year I also had them make a Christmas ornament. You use a blue Christmas ball, paint their hands white, and they wrap it around the ball. Once it’s dry they decorate each finger/thumb to look like a snowman. I put some white dots of paint around to look like snow. They look so stinkin’ cute! I have them on our mini class Christmas tree. Right before Christmas they will take them home with this poem,

    ”These aren't just five snowmen
    As anyone can see.
I made them with my hand
Which is a part of me.
Now each year when you trim the tree
    You'll look back and recall
    Christmas of 2010
When my hand was just this small!”

I can’t remember where I found it online, but I love it!

  2. We've done mosaic ornaments at school before with their pictures inside them. (just expensive.)
Twice, I've had my kids make wreaths from tissue paper and a coat hangers. That's fun, but might be hard for first graders.

  3. We order snowflake ornaments from Oriental Trader (they went up in price this year though!) and pay for it ourselves, and design them & put their pictures in it.
