Sunday Social

It's Sunday and I'm linking up with Neely and Ashley's blog link up!

1. What is your dream job?

I love being a teacher, but I do have a couple of dream jobs.

I would love to be a talk show host.

I would love to be a party planner.

2. If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time?

If I didn't have to work for money, I would probably be a stay at home mom but spend time working with various children's charities or being on various committees.  I would also spend a lot of time planning parties for my kids and friends families.

3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a little girl I either wanted to be a teacher, a talk show host, or a Broadway star. My elementary friends (if you are reading this) do you remember my talk show at lunch recess with the theme song? "Mandy talks a lot"?  We also used to video tape ourselves singing, dancing, and putting on commercials. I can't believe none of us ended up famous! ;)

4. What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your career?

If I were to give a new teacher a bit of advice I would tell him/her to put time and effort into the beginning of the year.  Start with strict behavior and guidelines and you will thank yourself later in the year.

5. What is your biggest pet peeve at work?

I get so irritated with people at work who complain about everything, but don't do anything to find a solution.  I also get irritated when people who genuinely dislike children are teachers. What on earth are you doing there?!

  1. I love that you had your own recess show:) I totally agree about the teacher/not liking kids thing! I had a few of those when I was little and it is so strange! I hope Jax never gets that type. I worry about which teacher he will get this year because our 2 choices are a first year teacher fresh out of college and an older etcher who everyone thought was retiring but she decided to do one more year. I really hope he gets the young etcher who is eager and patient!! And who says you aren't famous!

  2. Everyone's famous in their own home! Anyway, we are all flesh and blood. My kids are lucky in that their teachers like children and last week even let my child celebrate a birthday party in the classroom.
    It makes school fun!
    All the best

  4. Oh my gosh! That recess talk show sounds amazing! I wish there were actual tapes of that. I'm a new follower and I'm excited to get to know you more. (p.s. I teach first grade too!)

  5. Love that you had your own talk show on the playground! I never understand the teachers who are so negative teaching... you can tell the moment you walk into their classroom!
