20 Things About 2012

I had all intentions to do a year in review month by month like I did last year.
But dang. That exhausts me just to think about.
(So as I sit here pumping and trying to breathe (sick with a cold) I figure I will try something new.)

I saw this little questionnaire on "Walk with me by Faith"'s blog and thought I'd give it a try!

1. What did you do in 2012 that you have never done before?

I was pregnant and gave birth to twins! That was definitely a first.

2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions and did you make any for this year?

Last year I wanted to try to reconnect and be a better friend. I think I made good strides in this department. It gets so hard with all of us having families and being busy but I was glad that different groups of my friends made time to get together.

I have some goals for 2013 that I am going to work on. I will blog about these later in the week.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes! My sister Meg gave birth to Charlotte in January and a handful of friends and sorority sisters also gave birth.  And of course I gave birth to Harper and Hudson in September.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No, thankfully I didn't lose anyone this year.

5. What places did you visit?

We didn't take any big trips this year. We traveled a few hours north to my parents' summer house for our annual Fourth of July trip but that was it!

6.What would you like to do in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?

I really would like to start regularly attending church again. It seems I had every excuse in the book in 2012 (mainly being pregnant and not wanting to wake up or get dressed- sad I know). I really do plan on going regularly again soon.

7. Which dates from 2012 will be etched in your memory and why?

September 27th - The twins' birthday
October 11th - the twins' due date

8. What was your biggest achievement this year?

Carrying my healthy and big twins till 38 weeks!

9.Did you suffer any illness or  injury?

No, just modified bed rest towards the end of pregnancy.

10. What was the best thing you bought?

We got a van which has been such a lifesaver!

11. Where did most of your money go?

Mortgage, medical bills, the van

12. What song will always remind you of 2012?

"Call Me Maybe" - It seemed every time I turned around it was playing. And I'm not going to lie- I loved it.

13. What do you wish you would have done more of?

I wish I would have saved more money!
Not working this year is definitely a strain on our finances and I wish I wouldn't have been so flighty with our money (ie. needless Target trips, etc!)

14. What do you wish you would have done less of?

I wish I would have done less gossiping. I know its so common among girlfriends at a workplace but it's such a vicious cycle.

15. What was your favorite TV program?

Housewives of every city and The Bachelorrette

16. What was the best book you read this year?

I just looked at my Shelfari account and I read 41 books in 2012. Looking back through them, I think my favorites were Still Missing and the Fifty Shades Trilogy.

17. What was your favorite film of the year?

I just saw Les Mes last weekend and LOVED it.
I think that is definitely my favorite one of the year.

18. What did you do on your birthday and how old did you turn?

Last year I turned 30.
We spent my birthday at my parents' house cheering on the Packers in the playoffs (they lost that game- boo) and cuddling with my new niece.  She was just a few days old.
It wasn't a big celebration or anything but it was perfect.
(Plus I was feeling like crap- now I know that I was pregnant with the twins which really exhausted me and made me sick!)

19. What world event stirred you the most?

Like the rest of the world I was really shaken up by the shootings in Sandy Hook this December. I couldn't stop watching footage, thinking about it, and crying. I just simply can not imagine what those families were going through. It made me count my blessings and hold them tighter.

20. Who was the best new person you met?

My new babies!

  1. What an amazing year you had! I did a recap post, but I think I need to do this too. It made me think of things that I didn't even think to put in my recap. Can't wait to watch your babies grow in 2013!

  3. I love reading your blog! I am currently teaching students with ASD at an Autism Academy and on my most stressful days I come home and look for your newest post. You are so positive and I love reading about your 3 darlings! Thanks for sharing!! I created my own "20 of 2012" post after reading yours; it was a great processing time for me and I thankful you took the time to create your post! Happy New Year!

  4. Wow! what a year! And, you have done it all with such grace and style. Good for you desiring to get back in church regularly. Goodness, I know that's tough with 3 little ones, but so worth it in the long run. All the best in this new year!
